LHC Upgrades in preparation of Run 3 / Arduini, G (CERN) ; Baglin, V (CERN) ; Bartosik, H (CERN) ; Bottura, L (CERN) ; Bracco, C (CERN) ; Bradu, B (CERN) ; Bregliozzi, G (CERN) ; Brodzinski, K (CERN) ; Bruce, R (CERN) ; Calviani, M (CERN) et al.
The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) Long Shutdown 2(2019–2021), following LHC Run 2, was primarily dedicated to theupgrade of the LHC Injectors but it included also a significantamount of activities aimed at consolidation of the LHC machinecomponents, removal of known limitations and initial upgrades inview of the High-Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) to favour the intensityramp-up during Run 3 (2022–2025). An overview of the majormodifications to the accelerator and its systems is followed by asummary of the results of the superconducting magnet trainingcampaign to increase the LHC operation energy beyond the maximumvalue of 6.5 TeV reached during Run 2. Electrical Simulations of the SIS100 Superconducting Dipole and Quadrupole Circuits: Transients, Earthing and Failure Modes / Szwangruber, P B (Darmstadt, GSI) ; Raginel, V (Darmstadt, GSI) ; Delkov, D (Ilmenau Tech. U.) ; Ravaioli, E (CERN) ; Plyusnin, V (Darmstadt, GSI) ; Michna, M (Gdansk Tech. U.) ; Wilk, A (Gdansk Tech. U.) ; Wołoszyk, M (Gdansk Tech. U.) ; Freisleben, W (Darmstadt, GSI) ; Dziewiecki, M (Darmstadt, GSI) et al.
The 100 Tm superconducting synchrotron SIS100 is the main accelerator of the international Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research (FAIR) currently under advanced construction in Darmstadt, Germany. The SIS100 dipole circuit which creates the magnetic field required to bend the beam, consists of 108 dipoles distributed over six arc sections of the ring. [...]

Assessment of Training Performance, Degradation and Robustness of Paraffin-Wax Impregnated Nb3Sn Demonstrator Under High Magnetic Field / Araujo, D M (PSI, Villigen) ; Auchmann, B (PSI, Villigen ; CERN) ; Brem, A (PSI, Villigen) ; Daly, M (PSI, Villigen) ; Hug, C (PSI, Villigen) ; Michlmayr, T (PSI, Villigen) ; Amm, K (Brookhaven Natl. Lab.) ; Anerella, M (Brookhaven Natl. Lab.) ; Yahia, A Ben (Brookhaven Natl. Lab.) ; Cozzolino, J (Brookhaven Natl. Lab.) et al.
In the context of high-energy physics, the use of Nb3Sn superconducting magnets as a cost-effective and reliable technology depends on improvements in the following areas: long development and manufacturing cycles, conductor degradation after thermal cycling, long training, as well as a demonstration in accelerator magnets with a beam aperture of the full potential of modern Nb3Sn conductors. In short, performance, robustness, and cost are the three issues to be addressed. [...]

The FCC feasibility study / Benedikt, Michael (CERN) ; Zimmermann, Frank (CERN)
The Future Circular electron-positron Collider (FCC-ee) design is optimised for studying the Z, W, and Higgs bosons, and the top quark, with extremely high luminosity and good energy efficiency. Responding to a request from the 2020 update of the European Strategy for Particle Physics, in 2021 the CERN Council has launched the FCC Feasibility Study (FCC FS) to examine the detailed implementation of such a collider. [...]

Benchmarking the FCC-ee positron source simulation tools using the SuperKEKB results / Alharthi, F (IJCLab, Orsay ; KACST, Riyadh) ; Chaikovska, I (IJCLab, Orsay) ; Chehab, R (IJCLab, Orsay) ; Zhao, Y (CERN) ; Latina, A (CERN) ; Enomoto, Y (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Miyahara, F (KEK, Tsukuba) ; Mytrochenko, V (Kharkov, KIPT)
For the Future Circular Collider (FCC-ee), particular attention is drowned to the crucial role of the positron source. Two positron production schemes are considered for the FCC-ee: conventional and crystal-based (hybrid), implying the use of channeling radiation in the oriented crystals. [...]
